Small Business Seminar Series – Export Trade Assistance Program (ETAP)

Why International Trade? $80 trillion world economy and 96% of the world’s customers live outside of the United States! The Inland Empire Small Business Development Center, in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Department of Commerce, will be presenting a four-part seminar series designed to educate businesses who are interested in exporting their products overseas.  Attendees will learn how to expand their market through the global market through four intensive seminars including:

Session 1 – Global Business Opportunities for the Small Business will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from 9:00 am – Noon.  Topics to be discussed include the advantages and disadvantages of going global, available resources you can use to maximize market penetration and analyze how your competition is accomplishing advances, assessing your readiness for international business, international trade language, and locating export information using technology.

Session 2 – Exploring Market Entry Strategies will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 9:00 am – Noon.  Topics to be discussed include locating export opportunities, selling overseas and best practices for channels of distribution, promoting your produce with out leaving the U.S., calculating export pricing, and legal aspects of trade.

Session 3 – International Trade Finance and Methods of Payment will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 9:00 am – Noon.  Topics to be discussed include export credit insurance, government and private financing opportunities, determining the best and cheapest way to get paid, and getting paid online and in advance.

Session 4 – International Shipping, Logistics and Supply Chain will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 9:00 am – Noon.  Topics to be discussed include international shipping terms, export documents necessary for shipping, customs tariffs and taxes, and freight forwarders and customs brokers.

This seminar will be held at the Office of Business Development, City of San Bernardino located at 201-B North E Street, Suite 200 in San Bernardino 92402. There will be a $45 charge per workshop or $140 to attend all four sessions.
