Serrano Indians lived in the High Desert and San Bernardino Valley regions of southern California. In this Family Fun Day, visitors will explore Serrano Indian traditions and culture by trying out various tools such as pump drills, grinding stones, and hunting equipment, and will make-and-take traditional toys used in the past and present.
“Our goal for this family fun day is to build excitement for when the museum opens later this winter,” said Curator of Education Jolene Redvale. “Not only they will have a fun time with their families, but visitors will also get a sneak preview of the museum.”
The Victor Valley Museum closed temporarily when it became a branch of the San Bernardino County Museum. During its closure, the building was renovated, collections were inventoried, and new exhibits were planned and installed with the theme “Discover Your Own Backyard.” The museum is slated to reopen in late February, but Family Fun day participants will be able to peek at the new galleries.
The Victor Valley Museum is located at 11873 Apple Valley Road, Apple Valley. This family fun day is made possible by a grant from the Community Foundation serving Riverside and San Bernardino County.
