Next Inland Empire Aviation Roundtable at March Field Air Museum on April 19
RIVERSIDE, Ca. – “Soaring in Southern California” is the topic of the next Inland Empire Aviation Roundtable event hosted by the March Field Air Museum on Wednesday evening,
April 19, 2017, beginning at 7 p.m. Free and open to the public, the Inland Empire Aviation Roundtable is proudly sponsored by the MarchField Air Museum.
Dr. Gary Fogel, CEO of Natural Selection, Inc. in San Diego, will be the guest presenter for the upcoming Roundtable event and discussion that will focus on Southern California’s unique heritage in gliding and soaring. The special presentation will highlight sport aviation and the importance of preserving significant sites so that these unique pieces of aviation history can continue to be appreciated by future generations.
Dr. Fogel has an extensive background in, and passion for, aerospace – silent flight in particular. He earned a Ph.D. in biology from UCLA, is a Fellow of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and serves as editor-in-chief of the journal BioSystems. Along with many other accolades, Dr. Fogel has established 11 world records and more than 40 national records for model airplanes, and has written three aviation history books. He is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the American Aviation Historical Society (AAHS).
To complement the “Soaring in Southern California” Roundtable discussion, March Field Air Museum has a Schweizer TG-2 Training Glider on exhibit along with several large-scale remote-controlled sailplanes, all of which will be available for viewing as part of the evening’s program.
Monthly Roundtable events focus on topics about aviation and aerospace history, civil and military, as well as new and emerging developments in the fields. A question-and-answer period follows the special presentation each month and attendees are encouraged to get involved in the group discussion.
