AUTISM IN LOVE, Thur. Dec. 17th

Documentary Is a Rare Glimpse into the Emotional Lives of Adults on the Autism Spectrum

Autism in Love explores the lives of four adults as they navigate dating and romantic relationships. The community is invited to attend a free neighborhood screening on Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Riverside Public Library.

RIVERSIDE, CALIF. – (Dec. 13, 2015) –  Indie Lens Pop-Up, presented by the Independent Television Service (ITVS), Independent Lens, and OneNation Media Services, is excited to offer an advance screening of Autism in Love, a film by Matt Fuller.  The free, neighborhood screening will be held Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Riverside Public Library starting at 6:00 p.m. A pre and post-screening discussion will provide an opportunity for attendees to share their personal definition of love.

In Autism in Love, four adults at different places on the autism spectrum open up their personal lives as they navigate dating and romantic relationships. Eye-opening, first-person portrayals show that despite many challenges faced by those with autism, love can find a way. Through these stories, we see that autism isn’t a one-size-fits-all disorder, and just like neurotypical people (those without developmental disabilities), those on the spectrum also experience the complexity, heartache, and joy that all come when making a romantic connection. Autism in Love was called “affectionate but clear-eyed” by The Hollywood Reporter, and premieres on Independent Lens Monday, January 11 at 10/9c (check local listings) on PBS.
