Springboard Announces Theme for Annual Youth Poster Contest

Riverside, Calif. – (Sept. 30, 2013) –Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management, Inc., (“Springboard”) is pleased to announce the theme for its annual youth poster contest.  Now in its eighth year, the highly anticipated contest provides local students an opportunity to express their creativity while gaining an understanding of important financial concepts. The contest is open to students in 3rd through 12th grade attending public and private schools in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.  The theme for year’s contest is “To Be a Super Saver, I Will …”

“Research reveals that adults who are successful in managing their money were introduced to financial concepts at an early age,” said Melinda Opperman, Springboard’s senior vice president.  “We look forward every year to working with students and teachers on this important learning exercise,” said Opperman.

A highly esteemed panel of community stakeholders will select a first, second, and third place winner from each of the three grade categories – elementary, middle and high school.  The winning students will receive a medal, framed certificate and monetary award.  In addition, Springboard will award the winning student’s school a $25 gift certificate for supporting financial literacy education.  Posters and three-dimensional artwork will be judged on expression of theme, style, content and overall creativity. Contest entries will be accepted now through Friday, February 14, 2014.  Entry forms along with the contest rules and guidelines may be downloaded from Springboard’s Press Center.

The winners will be recognized at Springboard’s annual spring luncheon held at the Historic Mission Inn in Riverside. Springboard has received hundreds of entries from area students since the first contest winners were announced in 2006.  The purpose of the contest is to introduce young people to the concept of financial literacy, and allow them to express their understanding of it through art.
