Stage Set For 2012 Lake Arrowhead Film Festival
The Lake Arrowhead Film Festival, running May 18 – 20 at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa, will commence with an outstanding line-up of films screenings and special events beginning at 10AM Friday, May 18th. Close to 2000 film-lovers, filmmakers and celebrities are expected to attend, marking the Lake Arrowhead Film Festival’s 13th anniversary.
Over 60 films, documentaries, shorts, animations, and feature-length films, many of them from students, will be screened at the Festival. Filmmakers will be on hand throughout the Festival for Q & A after their films screen, at the Filmmakers Reception on Friday, May 18 at 6PM, hosted by actor Ernie Hudson, and at the Sunday Filmmaker Awards Luncheon, hosted by actor Christopher McDonald. Also on Sunday, the Festival will honor N. Bird Runningwater from the Sundance Institute, for his outstanding contribution to Native American film.
The Lake Arrowhead Film Festival will present several free events for the public’s enjoyment. These include a free screening of family film, Mickey Matson and The Copperhead Conspiracy on Friday May 18th at 4 P.M., with actor Ernie Hudson; a free seminar presented by industry icon Larry Mole Parker and directors of photography Lisa Wiegand and David Waldman, Visual Storytelling In the Digital Age Saturday, May 19th at 12 P.M., a special presentation Elevated Dreams: A Jordan Romero Story, with the opportunity to meet the youngest climber to scale Mt. Everest and the famed Seven Summits on Saturday, May 19th at 1:30 P.M., and free screenings of all award-winning films on Sunday, May 20th starting at 2:30 P.M.
On Friday, May 18th special events include the Warner Bros. documentary Charlton Heston & Ben-Hur: A Personal Journey at 8:00 P.M., followed by Q&A with Executive Producer Fraser C. Heston. Then at 10 P.M. a Red Carpet Event and West Coast Premiere of The Last Gamble, with director Joe E. Goodavage and award-winning actors, Steven Bauer, Sally Kirkland, Nick Mancuso, and John Savage at the Q&A.
Saturday evening on May 19th at 5:30 P.M. Director and Producer Rod Holcomb, Weathercaster Fritz Coleman and Academy Award nominated actress Kathleen Quinlan will be honored at the Gala Awards Dinner at the Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa Ballroom.
