Stater Bros. Market Joins Fight Against Child Abuse

Children’s Fund is hosting an awareness fair at the Stater Bros. Supermarket located at 1536 Barton Rd. in Redlands on Saturday, April 20 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Participants in the fair will include KOLA 99.9 radio, Children’s Network – County of San Bernardino, First 5 – San Bernardino, Children and Family Services – Foster Parent Recruitment, and Building A Generation.  There will be games, crafts and child passenger safety information.

“April is Child Abuse Awareness Month,” states Erin Phillips, president & CEO of Children’s Fund.  “It is important that our friends and neighbors realize that child abuse is real and is happening in our local communities.  Everyone can help protect children.”

KOLA 99.9 will be holding a live remote during the fair so requests can be made for favorite classic songs.  Building A Generation will provide child passenger safety information while First 5 of San Bernardino will provide valuable resources available for children ages 0 – 5 years old.  Children and Family Services will have available ways to become foster parents.

“The message we are conveying is that as a community we can join together to protect and build strong, resilient children,” Phillips states.  “Every child deserves a chance at a prosperous life, knowing that others believe in them.”

“The Stater Bros. ‘Family’ has a long history of giving back to our friends and neighbors in the communities we are privileged to serve,” stated Jack H. Brown, Chairman & CEO of Stater Bros. Markets  and Founding Chairman of Children’s Fund of San Bernardino County.  “We are especially pleased to participate in programs that make a difference in the lives of so many children.”

Children’s Fund helped 43,000 children this past year in a variety of ways, including providing food, shelter, beds, transportation, or medical or dental care which they otherwise would not have received.  Children’s Fund also supports the Children’s Assessment Center, San Bernardino County’s only one-stop center where children who are rescued from alleged abuse or neglect can be treated and tell their story just once, reducing their trauma.

Created in 1986, Children’s Fund is a non-profit whose mission is to prevent child abuse in our community; to ensure that at-risk children who are abused, neglected, impoverished, or abandoned receive adequate food, shelter, clothing, medical care and education; and to provide equal opportunity for social development for these children.  For more information on Children’s Fund or to learn how you can give a child hope for brighter tomorrows by making a donation, go to www.childrensfundonline.org or call 909.379.0000.  Follow us on Facebook: http://on.fb.me/W4Wymf
