Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, Inland Empire Affiliate to Speak about Breast Health at the Fontana Community Senior Center

Fontana, California,-The Mayor and the City Council would like to invite the public to the Fontana Community Senior Center on Thursday March 1st, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Breast Health Awareness presentation. During this presentation, participants will receive important information regarding breast health and breast cancer; including risk factors, signs and symptoms, the importance of screening, as well as information about local resources such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.                                                                   Local Inland Empire breast cancer survivor, and Komen Mission Programs Coordinator, Yvonne Ojeda, will present on the topics discussed above. A question and answer session will follow the presentation. “It is imperative that the community is informed about breast health, and is aware of local resources that are available” says Sarah Bryant, Mission Programs Manager for the Inland Empire Affiliate. “We offer free breast health presentations and fund local breast health programs and life-saving services for residents of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties”.

Last year there were more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors, but it is estimated that more than 230,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed among American women this year. These programs fill an unmet need and touch the lives of thousands of women and their families at a time when the need is greater than ever. “We are extremely honored that we are able to partner with the Inland Empire Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to provide such an essential and necessary program to the community” says Tiffany Starks, Community Services Coordinator for the Fontana Community Senior Center. “In addition to the day to day activities that we offer here at the Senior Center, we also pride ourselves on providing educational sessions that enhance the quality of life for the seniors that call our center home.”                                                                                                                To reserve your spot at the Breast Health Awareness presentation, please call (909) 854 – 5151 and for more information on the presentation, visit the Inland Empire Affiliate of Susan G.
