Technical Rescue Team to Test Skills On Simulated Crane Operator Rescue

Riverside, CA – The City of Riverside Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team will be performing a simulated crane operator rescue exercise. This low frequency, but high risk event can occur when the operator of a crane has a medical emergency at the controls of the crane. The Technical Rescue Team, which is located at Fire Station 3, will climb to approximately 250ft today to simulate this technical rescue. Crews will utilize technical rope rescue skills to lower the simulated patient (mannequin) safely to ground level.

The training exercise will be held at the Riverside Community Hospital construction site (Brockton cross of 14th). The drill will start at approximately 3pm. Lightning or severe weather will cause this drill to be postponed.
