TEMECULA: Filipino Concert Followed by Pacquiao Fight at PALA Casino

Pinoy Invasion at PALA Casino on June 9th; Filipino Concert Followed by Pacquiao Fight

TEMECULA – Pinoy Pride will be overflowing on June 9th (Saturday), when the Pala Casino showcases two Filipino events in their Infinity Showroom, turning Filipino Independence into an all-day (and night) celebration.

Pala Casino boasts ten restaurants, multiple performance stages, a four-diamond hotel, and round-the-clock gaming action. Pala is also known for its warm welcome of the Filipino Community. On June 9th Pala Casino is offering Filipinos some of their favorite entertainment choices – with one ticket.

First, at 2PM on June 9th, the multi-awarded Queen of Jazzipino, Ms. Charmaine Clamor, will give an uplifting concert entitled “Laya!” celebrating Filipino Independence. The sultry songbird will be joined by the famed folkloric dance troupe Kayamanan ng Lahi and the traditional Filipino music ensemble Rondalla Club of LA. The artists collaborated together in March at the historic production of “Agos” at the Getty Museum, which sold out in less than 48 hours.

Patrons will be treated to a thrilling mix of traditional and contemporary Filipino music, with heartwarming renditions of beloved kundiman, harana, and Charmaine Clamor’s signature jazzipino versions of Filipino classics like “Dahil Sa Yo” and “Bayan Ko.” “Laya!” will feature folkloric dances from all over the Philippines, including Mindanao. The Rondalla Club will add the indigenous sounds of kulintang and bandurria.

Tickets are on sale now at the Pala Casino box office and from StarTickets, at: http://startickets.com/event.php?event=2987.

A recording artist on Manila’s famed Viva Records label, Clamor said, “I’m so excited to share the Filipino pageantry from the Rondalla Club and KNL, my brilliant collaborators on the Getty shows, especially since many fans had to be turned away in March.”

“I think this will be a show Filipinos can be proud of,” she quipped.

At the conclusion of the “Laya!” concert, the Infinity Showroom will be transformed into an exclusive viewing party for the Manny Pacquiao vs.Tim Bradley world championship boxing match. The closed-circuit broadcast from Las Vegas begins at 5PM.

One ticket entitles patrons to admission to both events. Tickets for the “Laya!” concert and Pacquiao fight start at only $25. VIP-level is a reasonable $40.

Charmaine Clamor, recently named a “Filipino Champion” by TFC’s Balitang America, has given command performances for President Benigno Aquino at Malacanang Palace and serenaded United States Ambassador Harry Thomas. She is renowned for sharing her native Tagalog language and music with mainstream audiences around the world. Indeed, Clamor will be performing at Pala Casino after giving a concert in Johannesburg, South Africa the weekend before.

“I love sharing our beautiful Filipino traditions with all my audiences,” she confided. “But there’s something extra special about singing for my kababayans.”

“All of us at Kayamanan Ng Lahi Philippine Folk Arts are excited to once again share the stage with the world’s best known Filipino-American jazz vocalist, Charmaine Clamor,” said Ave Jacinto, co-founder of KNL. “We look forward to another spectacular collaboration that showcases the diversity, richness and beauty of Philippine culture, both the traditional and the contemporary – all in celebration of Philippine Independence Day!”
