The Secret of Eternal Youth is at the Riverside Art Museum

Riverside CA – George Bernard Shaw once said, “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” The Riverside Art Museum (RAM) is pleased to announce a series of “playful” activities for individuals who have lived for 65 years or more, but who could never be considered “old”.

In partnership with CareMore, RAM’s Summer Series for Seniors lets the young-at-heart indulge their inner child.

First up is The Art of Paper Cutting à la Henri Matisse on July 25, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Taught by instructor Nora Unrath, this class, which will be held in RAM’s beautiful Julia Morgan-designed Atrium, will allow seniors to create beautiful, cut paper collages. Called gouaches découpés, Matisse’s collages were often enormous in scale and lush in color. Some of his most famous works, such as his Blue Nude II and The Snail, are cut paper collages. Class size is limited, so call the art museum at 951.684.7111 today to reserve your spot!

Our gouaches découpés is just the beginning, however. We will also offer an art class where grandparents and their grandchildren will share in creating art together, give seniors a chance to learn how to line dance, and host an ice cream social on our roof!
