University of Redlands Students Go Green

Student club hosts events and activities which aim to grow environmental action and awareness on campus as well as in the local Redlands community.

Redlands, Calif. University of Redlands’ SEA club (Students for Environmental Action) is hosting “Green Week”, a week of environmental awareness and action, February 19th through February 23rd. Students and the general public are invited to participate in an array of environmentally friendly events and activities.

Where/When: February 19th-23rd

   Gardening, planting, weeding and cleaning the sustainable garden on campus.

Location/Time: The Brockton Community Garden; 1:00 p.m.

   An evening of mixers, food and an environmental guest speaker. All Environmental Studies majors, faculty and anyone else interested are encouraged to attend.

Location/Time: Merriam Hall; 6:00 p.m.

   Food waste collection at dinner; showing the community just how much food they are wasting during dinners when using trays.

Location/Time: The Commons Dining Hall; 4:30-7:00 p.m.

   Tray-less Tuesday. The trays will be taken away at dinner to promote saving water, energy, and wasted food.

Location/Time: The Commons Dining Hall; 4:30-7:00 p.m.

   Food waste collection at dinner. A comparison of food waste with trays versus without trays; displaying how much less food is wasted when students do not use trays.

Location/Time: The Commons Dining Hall; 4:30-7:00 p.m.

   Screening of an inspirational and environmentally friendly film.

Location/Time: 1st Floor of Hunsaker; 8:00 p.m.

   Green Arts & Crafts on Lewis Lawn.

Arts and Crafts will include tie dye, hemp bracelets and much more!

Location/Time: Lewis Lawn; 4:00-6:00 p.m.

   Greenapalooza, a live benefit concert with the proceeds going to a local charity.

Location/Time: Lewis Brown Amphitheatre; 9:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.
