Veterans Day Writing Contest

What does Veterans Day mean to you?

Fontana, California – The Mayor and City Council invite the public ages 18 and under to participate in the Veterans Day writing contest.

Participants are required to write a poem or essay (250 words or less) answering the question “What does Veterans Day mean to you?” To enter, send finished material to events@fontana.org or to the Community Services Department office at 16860 Valencia Avenue in Fontana. Materials may also be dropped off in person. Please remember to print neatly or submit a type-written document. Submission deadline is Monday, October 25.

Essays will be judged by local Veterans and the top three winners will receive a United States Savings Bond. Winners will also have the opportunity to read their essay at the Veterans Day Celebration. Winning essays will be printed in the Fontana Herald News.

The Veterans Day Celebration takes place on Thursday, November 11 at 11:00 am at the Memorial Rose Garden at 16830 Spring Street, next to the Art Depot in Fontana.
