Veterans Reception to be Held May 10
Assembly Member Wilmer Amina Carter (D-Rialto) will host her fifth annual Veterans Appreciation Reception 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 10. The ceremony will be at the Colonel Joseph C. Rodriguez Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8737, 2018 W. Foothill Blvd, San Bernardino.

“I honor our veterans for having paid the price by leaving their families and communities and placing themselves in harm’s way for the good of our country,” Assembly Member Carter said. Her reception and Veterans Appreciation Month are designed to promote the importance and advantages of hiring, training and re-training veterans.
Assembly District 62 Veteran of the Year is George Lee Apker, U.S. Air Force, Rialto. Other Veteran of the Year honorees are: Rodolfo Guzman, U.S. Army, Rialto; Walter Jarman, U.S. Air Force, San Bernardino; Danny Marquez, U.S. Army, Fontana; James Martinez; U.S. Army, Rialto; Gresia Mundaca, U.S. Army, Colton; Charles C. Parra, U.S. Marines, Rialto; Victor Quezada, Jr., U.S. Army, Colton; and Lazaro G. Rodriguez, U.S. Marine Corps, Bloomington.
Special Recognitions go to Terrill Transitional Housing, San Bernardino Valley College Veterans Resource Center, Veterans Exploration Garden, Disabled Veterans of American, San Bernardino and VA Loma Linda Health Care for homeless veterans.
