3/9, Barbie’s 54th Birthday Party at Farrell’s – Join Barbie and Ken for an exciting birthday! A special Farrell’s Zoo will be running around all day beginning at 10 a.m., and everyone can sing a unique birthday song just for this location. IE locations are in Riverside and Rancho Cucamonga.

RIVERSIDE & MORENO VALLEY WEEKEND EVENTS

3/9, Benise – Great seats are still available for Saturday’s “The Spanish Guitar” show at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside. The show begins at 8 p.m.

3/9, My Play Club – Bring the kids to a monthly play date, includes arts and crafts, face painting, games & more!  At Fairmount Park.

3/9, College Fair – The Moreno Valley School District will host the 8th Annual Inland Empire College Outreach Fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Vista Del Lago High School.

3/10, Bridal Open House – Brides-to-be are welcome to attend this Bridal Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Marriott Riverside.

3/10, Special Riverside Car Show – The Classic Car, Motorcycle and Fundraiser Show for recent fallen and injured Riverside Police officers and their families will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at 7393 Orangewood Drive in Riverside.

Thru 3/9 – “The Tempest” – One of William Shakespeare’s finest works is being performed by the UC Riverside Department of Theatre through next weekend.

Thru 3/10 – “Seussical the Musical” – Enjoy the stories of the beloved Dr. Seuss in this amazing performance by the Riverside Youth Theatre at the CrossWinds Theatre in Moreno Valley. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays through next weekend.

SAN BERNARDINO & REDLANDS WEEKEND EVENTS

3/9, Children’s Workshop – Redlands kids can view their heritage through the eyes of artist Leo Politi in a special FREE workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at A.K. Smiley Public Library in Redlands. Open to children 8 to 14.

3/9, Waste Round-Up – The City of Yucaipa will sponsor a hazardous and electronic waste round-up from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Yucaipa Equestrian Center.

3/9, Family Fun Day – Family Fun Day activities focused on Serrano culture are happening at the San Bernardino County Museum from 11-4 p.m.  Activities are included in museum admission.

3/9, “Celebrating Verdi and Wagner” – San Bernardino Symphony is inviting everyone to a birthday party honoring the 200th birthday of Verdi and Wagner.  Performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Historic California Theater of the Performing Arts.

Thru 3/30, Photto-Journalistic Exhibit – The National Orange Show Art Gallery presents “Mexico: The Revolution and Beyond” by Agustin Victor Casasola. The exhibit opens Friday and runs on from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays through the end of the month.

Thru August 2013, “Always a Bridesmaid” – The San Bernardino County Museum‘s exhibit features artifacts and costumes relating to marriage ceremonies from the 1860s to the 1960s.

HEMET WEEKEND EVENTS

Thru 3/8, “It Started with a Book” – The Hemet Library Foundation will honor the legacy of Helen Hunt Jackson this weekend at the library. Friday’s literary tour and reception begins at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, a forum with a panel of experts on Helen Hunt Jackson begins at 10 a.m. On Sunday, a Victorian Tea and Fashion Show begins at 2 p.m.

SAN JACINTO WEEKEND EVENTS

3/9, Hamburger Bash – Support San Jacinto student scholarships and mini-grants at an annual Hamburger Bash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at North Mountain Middle School in San Jacinto.

BEAUMONT & BANNING WEEKEND EVENTS

3/9, Passport Day – The City of Beaumont will participate in Passport Day in the USA from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

CUCAMONGA VALLEY WEEKEND EVENTS

3/8-3/9, Basketball Championship – Head to the Citizens Business Bank Arena and enjoy the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament. Women play at noon and 2:30 p.m. Saturday and at 5 p.m. Sunday. Men play at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Thru 3/10, “The Fantasticks” – Get your tickets for the longest running musical in history opening Saturday at the Lewis Family Playhouse in Rancho Cucamonga.

SAN DIMAS WEEKEND EVENTS

Thru 3/16, Art Gallery Show – The San Dimas Festival of Arts Gallery will showcase two artists who work in watercolor, oil and acrylic at its monthly 2nd Story Art Gallery in Walker House. The gallery is open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the second and third Friday and Saturday of each month.

CHINO VALLEY WEEKEND EVENTS

Thru 3/10, Weekly Film Series – Oscar month continues at Dos Lagos in Corona. This week’s award-winning movie, “Casablanca,” starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, begins at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Thru 4/16, New Exhibit – The Norco College Art Gallery unveils its new exhibit, “Women in Art and Animation” at 6 p.m. Friday. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

POMONA VALLEY WEEKEND EVENTS

Thru 3/9, Quilt, Craft & Sewing Festival – Get ready for the next holiday season by getting your supplies now at this festival at the Fairplex in Pomona. The show is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Thru 3/10, Home & Garden Show – The Pomona Home & Garden Show is this weekend at the Fairplex in Pomona. Show hours are 2-7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 am. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Thru 3/24, “The Sound of Music” – This classic family musical opens Friday at the Candlelight Pavilion in Claremont.

Thru 4/7, “Denatured Nature” – Ceramic gets interesting! Check out Scripps College Ceramic Annual.

BIG BEAR & LAKE ARROWHEAD WEEKEND EVENTS

3/9, Memorial Race – The 17th Annual Victor Alvarez Memorial Race and Silent Auction at Snow Summit beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday in Big Bear.

3/9, Polar Plunge – The Special Olympics Southern California The 2nd Annual Big Bear Lake Polar Plunge at Swim Beach to benefit athletes of the Inland Empire Region. Activities run from 10 a.m. to noon.

TEMECULA & MURRIETA WEEKEND EVENTS

3/8-3/9, Temecula Rod Run – The annual Temecula event is set for this weekend.

Thru 3/10, “The Wizard of Oz” – Christian Youth Theater Riverside County presents this classic family musical through next weekend at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater. Performances are 7 p.m. Fridays, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

COACHELLA VALLEY & DESERT COMMUNITIES WEEKEND EVENTS

3/7-3/10, La Quinta Arts Festival – 31st Annual La Quinta Arts Festival returns to the La Quinta’s Civic Center Campus.

3/8, “Gypsy” – “Gypsy”  debuts on Friday starting their five-week run at Theatre 29 in Twentynine Palms.  The classic Broadway musical is not recommended for kids 12 and under.  Performances are at 7:00 pm on Friday and Saturday nights. Two Sunday Matinees will be offered at 2:30 pm on March 17, and 24.

3/9, Soak City Palm Springs – The family fun-filled water park opens its gates Saturday and will be open weekends until March 20 when it goes on its full-time schedule.

3/10, Free 2nd Sunday – Palm Springs Art Museum  will feature a reading of Clarence Darrow Tonight!, starring renowned actor and Emmy Award winner, Laurence Luckinbill at 2.p.m.

Also check out the “Guess Where I Went” family activity from 11-3 p.m.
