Women’s Leadership Council of Arrowhead United Way Sponsors 2011 Summer College Cruise at California State University San Bernardino
Local High School Students are Encouraged to Attend College
San Bernardino, CA, June 24, 2011: The Women’s Leadership Council of Arrowhead United Way hosted more than 50 young female high school juniors and seniors for a fun half-day of workshops designed to assist them in determining a career path, sorting through resources, and improving skills in time management, overcoming obstacles, and goal-setting at California State University San Bernardino on June 23, 2011. The goal of program, Summer College Cruise: Navigating the Waters of Education to a Successful Future, is to provide an introduction to the college experience for at-risk young women who may not be considering a secondary education, and to inspire them to consider a variety of career and educational options.
Thanks to co-sponsor California State University San Bernardino, the young students were treated to a tour of the campus and provided lunch. All of the participants completed a post-event evaluation to assist the WLC in planning future events focused on promoting education. The Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) is committed to improving the lives of underserved, disadvantaged young women in central San Bernardino County by supporting education, financial stability, and healthy lifestyles programs.
