Women’s Leadership Council Successfully Completes Interview for Success Workshop

San Bernardino – The Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) of Arrowhead United Way (AUW) successfully completed its second Interview for Success workshop in early October to assist young women in the community to gain employment.

Cathy Paredes, Vice President, Community Relations Manager, Global Corporate Social Responsibility, Bank of America, speaks to participants about financial management

The Interview for Success program focuses on underserved and disadvantaged local young women who have barriers to employment such as transportation, childcare, and work attire.  The program provides coaching to assist the young women in interview skills, resume writing, and goal setting.  Upon completion of the workshop, the young women are provided with a mentor and scholarship to overcome a barrier to employment.

The young women who participated in the program were enrolled with the San Bernardino Employment and Training Agency and funding was provided through a grant from Bank of America.  The first workshop took place in May 2010 and was funded through a grant from Macy’s.

The WLC is committed to improving the lives of young women in San Bernardino County by identifying and supporting quality solutions with measurable results in areas such as education, financial stability, and healthy lifestyles.
