Riverside, CA – On July 22, 2018, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department will be holding the 21st Explorer Academy. There are over ninety explorers participating from multiple law enforcement agencies, including Banning PD, Beaumont PD, Blythe PD, Claremont PD, Murrieta PD, and from as far away as Washington County, Utah, scheduled to attend the academy. Explorers will enjoy demonstrations provided by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Aviation, S.W.A.T., and Canine units.
During this six (6) day training event, explorers are required to live at the academy and endure a “boot camp” style environment. Explorers will participate in team building exercises, character development courses, drill and ceremony instruction, general law enforcement training and physical fitness activities. The Explorer Academy is designed to build the participant’s confidence, increase their self-esteem and teach them how to work together as a team toward common goals. Additionally, the program is designed to assist the participants in developing personal discipline and emphasizes the importance of accountability.
