Apple Valley: Reptiles coming to the Victor Valley Museum

Victor Valley Museum Reptiles

November 10th Second Saturday features Deserts’ backyard creatures

Apple Valley, CA – Invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians (oh my!) will be the focus during the Victor Valley Museum’s monthly Second Saturday program on Saturday, Nov. 10, 12 – 3pm. The Mojave region is home to many species, and visitors will have the opportunity to get a close look at, and learn more about these native reptiles in and around the urban and desert environment.

Joining the program is High Desert Wildlife, an organization that educates and advocates for proper care of reptiles in the Mojave Desert. They will showcase invertebrates, reptiles, and amphibians, which will interact with willing visitors. High Desert Wildlife will also share how to identify species that are venomous and non-venomous.

Also participating in the event is California Turtle & Tortoise Club: High Desert Chapter, an organization that operates an active turtle and tortoise adoption program placing captive desert tortoises in new homes. This outreach will introduce some of their tortoises and present information about the endangered desert tortoise.

The Second Saturday program is included with museum admission. “Second Saturdays at the Victor Valley Museum” focuses on the Victor Valley Museum’s collections and exhibits, with an emphasis on the High Desert’s cultural and natural history. Upcoming Second Saturdays at the Victor Valley Museum will include family art-making activities, fossils, rocks and minerals, and more!

Second Saturdays at the Victor Valley Museum and the County Museum’s other exciting events and exhibits reflect the effort by the Board of Supervisors to achieve the Countywide Vision by celebrating the arts, culture, and education in the county, creating quality of life for residents and visitors.
