Summer Programming at Victor Valley Museum/Second Saturdays Summer Series

Apple Valley, CA – Beat the summer blues and escape to the Victor Valley Museum for Second Saturdays Summer Series. Participants will get to create their own art work, get active inside the museum and experience the wonders of the summer Mojave Desert night sky. Second Saturdays Summer Series is scheduled on the second Saturday of the month, June through August. 

During the Family Art Making Workshop on June 8 from noon to 3 p.m., participants will get to experiment with printmaking types including monotype and linocut prints. All ages are encouraged. Materials are included with museum general admission. 

At the Family Fitness Extravaganza! on July 13 from noon to 3 p.m. participants will get to pedal and mix their own smoothie with fresh fruit on the County’s Public Health Department’s Smoothie Bike and get active with games and activities in partnership with the Town of Apple Valley’s Park and Recreation VANtastic mobile recreation van.

On Cosmic Night on August 10 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. participants will get to view the astronomical wonders of the Mojave’s Desert’ summer skies in partnership with the High Desert Astronomical Society (HiDAS) based at the Luz Observatory at the Lewis Center for Educational Research. Telescope viewing takes place outdoors and is weather permitting. The museum galleries will be open during this event and regular admission applies. The nonprofit organization will provide telescopes for viewing the desert’s sky in front of the museum.

The Second Saturdays program runs from noon to 3 p.m. and is included with museum admission. “Second Saturdays at the Victor Valley Museum” focus on Victor Valley Museum collections and exhibits, with an emphasis on High Desert cultural and natural history. Upcoming Second Saturdays at the Victor Valley Museum will include family art-making activities, rocks and minerals, reptiles, and fossils. 

Second Saturdays at the Victor Valley Museum and the County Museum’s other exciting events and exhibits reflect the effort by the Board of Supervisors to achieve the Countywide Vision by celebrating arts, culture, and education in the county, creating quality of life for residents and visitors. 

The Victor Valley Museum is a branch of the San Bernardino County Museum located at 11873 Apple Valley Road in Apple Valley. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 (adult), $4 (senior or military), and $2.50 (student. EBT cardholders are $1.
