Celebrate The Grand Opening of Coronas First Library Makerspace

Corona Public Library

CORONA, CA– The Corona Public Library is excited to celebrate the Grand Opening of Maker Exchange, a brand-new facility inside the library fostering life-long learning in a collaborative environment through experimenting and tinkering with Maker materials, tools, and equipment.

Join staff, sponsors, and community partners on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 1 to 4 p.m. throughout the Library.  We will open several, all-ages tinkering activities and a sponsor fair beginning at noon. At 1 p.m. several guest speakers will offer a few words regarding the importance of makerspaces in our communities. The official ribbon cutting of Maker Exchange will take place at 2 p.m., followed by an opportunity to tour Maker Exchange. The remainder of the day will include tinkering with 3D Design and Digital Die-Cutting software in our Computer Learning Center, and an opportunity drawing of Maker Exchange creations at 3:30 p.m.

RSVP today to guarantee your seat for the speakers at www.GoMakerExchange.rsvpify.com

The Maker Exchange facility and programs are made possible by “Developing Makerspaces in Libraries Throughout California,” a pilot project from the California State Library in collaboration with the Center for Childhood Creativity at the Bay Area Discovery Museum along with Friends of the Corona Public Library and The Leela Project. Beyond the initial funding from these generous sponsors, staff will be collaborating with local makers, businesses, and organizations to bring innovative classes, workshops, seminars, and series to patrons.  While the initial year of scheduled programming will focus on teens and tweens, all-ages will have opportunities to make with us in the coming years.
