Nonprofit GRID Alternatives Inland Empire to provide valuable renewable energy resources of no cost solar to qualifying low-income families in Rancho Cucamonga
Rancho Cucamonga, CA – Nonprofit GRID Alternatives is a leader in providing renewable energy technology and job training to underserved communities nationwide. The City of Rancho Cucamonga adopted a Sustainable Community Action Plan, which encourages the increased use of renewable energy providing access to solar energy for low-income homeowners in its city. GRID Alternatives is proud to announce their recent partnership with the city to provide no cost solar to qualifying homeowners in Rancho Cucamonga.
Rancho Cucamonga resident Michael Weaver and family is the next recipient slated to receive a solar photovoltaic system on October 18. The Weaver family has lived in Rancho Cucamonga for over 25 years.
GRID Alternatives is able to provide these solar systems at no cost thanks to a combination of state and corporate grants, as well as supporters throughout the inland region. The City of Rancho Cucamonga is excited about this partnership with GRID and the economic impact it will have on its community. GRID offers free job training and helps low-income families by significantly reducing their energy costs up to 90 percent. The clean energy systems also help everyone in the Inland Empire by improving air quality.
Over 1,300 solar systems have been installed in the inland region to date (5.7 megawatts of sustainable energy). The systems are expected to generate over $49 million in lifetime savings to these families over a span of 30 years. The impact is 127,000 tons of greenhouse gases prevented in the atmosphere, which is equivalent to taking 24,233 cars off the road for a year or planting 2.9 million trees.
