ONT is key new market for Denver-based carrier
ONTARIO, Calif. – Greeted by airport officials, airline employees and community leaders, Frontier Airlines flight 1923 arrived to much fanfare today at Ontario International Airport (ONT) as the Denver-based carrier launched service at Southern California’s newest aviation gateway.“Ontario is the place to be for new air service in Southern California,” said Alan D. Frontier’s arrival represents the largest commitment of air service at ONT in more than a decade, Wapner noted. In addition to this morning’s arrival from Austin, TX, Frontier is adding routes to its home base in Denver, San Antonio and Chicago/O’Hare, bringing the total number of markets served from ONT to 18.

Frontier’s new routes mean ONT passengers can travel coast-to-coast without changing planes seven days a week as service to Austin and San Antonio will continue to Washington Dulles International Airport.
Frontier will operate the San Antonio-Washington thru-service every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with Airbus A320 aircraft while thru-service to Washington via Austin will be offered Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Following the arrival of flight 1923, the aircraft departed ONT (flight 1924) at 11:45 a.m. with one stop in Austin but no change of plane for passengers traveling through to Washington Dulles, arriving at 9:45 p.m. (EDT).
Since ONT’s transfer to local control nearly one year ago, passenger levels have risen month after month as airlines add new service. In the first eight months of 2017, more than 2.9 million passengers traveled through ONT, an increase of seven percent over the same period in 2016.
