Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) unveiled health centers at its San Jacinto and Menifee Valley campuses this week to provide its 27,000 students improved access to medical services and mental health counselors.
“We serve thousands of students and know that not every student has access to the health services they need,” said Dr. Roger W. Schultz, MSJC Superintendent/President. “By providing these services, including mental health counseling, we hope to further remove potential barriers that can prevent them from succeeding in achieving their academic goals at MSJC.”
The college held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the San Jacinto Campus health center on Tuesday, Aug. 27, and an open house at the Menifee Valley Campus health center on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
MSJC students pay a $20 per-semester fee that enables them to access services such as health consultations, triage for first aid and emergency care, wellness education, mental health counseling, referrals and a lactation room for nursing mothers.
Students can participate in up to three 50-minute mental health sessions per semester. Referrals to additional resources in the community will be offered as necessary.
The two health centers open at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday, with varying closing times that can be found on the Student Health Centers page of the college’s website.
The San Jacinto Campus health center is in Room 1540 just east of the cafeteria. Its phone number is (951) 487-3206.
The Menifee Valley Campus health center is in Room 723 facing Parking Lot D. Its phone number is (951) 639-5206.
