Jurupa Valley, Ca. — A new state-of-the-art community health center will expand access to high-quality medical and behavioral health services in Jurupa Valley, officials at Riverside University Health System (RUHS) announced this week.
The 40,000 square-foot Jurupa Valley Community Health Center at 8876 Mission Blvd. will open on Monday (May 20). The spacious, brightly decorated center replaces a small, aging clinic just down the street from the new location. Doctors say they are pleased the health center will remain accessible to nearby residents while expanding services to a greater number of people in the region.
“This beautiful medical home is an access point to integrated primary care and behavioral health services for patients of all ages—from newboErns to seniors,” said Dr. Geoffrey Leung, chief medical officer for the 11 federally qualified health clinics RUHS operates across Riverside County. “Whether its diabetes management or depression, our patients will find their providers working under one roof as a team on their behalf,” Leung said. “Our doctors and providers have forged strong connections with Jurupa Valley over many years and we are honored to be a part of the fabric of this community.”
Second District Riverside County Supervisor Karen Spiegel, who represents Jurupa Valley, called the health center an “important asset” where children, adults and families can obtain services to meet their mental health and physical needs. The Community Health Center provides services and medications to all, regardless of their ability to pay.
“These services will improve the health of our residents and put them on their best foot forward into the future,” Spiegel said.
The Community Health Center will employ about 90 doctors and healthcare workers, and see about 200 patients daily. The center also will house an outpatient pharmacy, diagnostic lab and imaging center, and an office for the Women’s, Infants and Children (WIC) program. A mother’s nutritional store soon will be open to clients, employees and the general public. The center was constructed through an agreement between the County of Riverside Economic Development Agency; Riverside University Health System, and the developer, The Boureston Companies, and Coldwell Banker.

Community health centers are critical linkages in the local and national healthcare system. Since the nation’s first health centers opened in 1965, expansion of the federally-supported health center system to over 1,400 organizations has created an affordable health care option for more than 28 million people. Health centers help increase access to crucial primary care by reducing barriers such as cost, lack of insurance, distance, and language for their patients. In doing so, health centers provide substantial benefits to the country and its health care system.

Riverside University Health System was established by the Board of Supervisors in 1893 as the County of Riverside’s public health system.
