Pick Group Selects The Cheech As Recipient Of Their 100×100 Campaign

Pick Group RAM Cheech

Young Professionals of Riverside Fundraise for the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry of the Riverside Art Museum

Riverside, CA – The Pick Group of Young Professionals chooses the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry of the Riverside Art Museum as the recipient of funds raised through their Pick 100×100 campaign. The goal of the campaign is to encourage 100 young professionals to give $100 each by October 2019 to raise $10,000.

“Imagine the difference we can make in our community by deciding to give back as young professionals to a community that has given so much to us,” says Pick Group President Lauren Lee.

Slated to open in 2021, The Cheech will explore Chicano art from the barrio to the bay, cholos to Cesar Chavez, and pre-Columbian to modern murals. As Cheech says, it will be the “center of Chicano art, not for only paintings, but sculpture, photography, and video arts.” The Center will be located in downtown Riverside, next door to the historic Mission Inn, in a 61,420-square-foot facility that was originally opened in 1964 as the Riverside Public Library. The Cheech is an ideal adaptive reuse of this mid-century building with the transformation from library to art center preserving many of its historic aspects.

To donate, visit the Community Foundation’s website where the Pick Group has a fund: https://www.thecommunityfoundation.net/the-pick-group-fund.

“Thank you, Pick Group,” says Cheech Marin. “Your support of The Cheech is so important as you represent the future and will continue to be champions of this important project.”

The Riverside Art Museum integrates art into the lives of people in a way that engages, inspires, and builds community by providing high quality exhibits and art education programs that instill a lifelong love of the arts. RAM relies on the generosity of members and donors to support its exhibitions, education programs, and special events. A 60-plus-year-old, non-profit cultural arts institution housed in a National Historic 1929 building designed by Hearst Castle and AIA Gold Medal-winning architect Julia Morgan, the museum welcomes over 50,000 visitors a year. The museum is open Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. and Sunday, noon–4:00 p.m. For information on exhibits, events, classes, memberships, or sponsorship opportunities, visit www.RiversideArtMuseum.org.
