SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.– The Board of Supervisors approved four budget items for residents throughout the Third District within the adopted budget for the fiscal year 2014-15 which Supervisor Ramos advocated.

The Joshua Tree community will be receiving one-time funding of $100,000 to be used to construct 1 and a half blocks of sidewalk from Joshua Tree National Park Visitor’s Center to Highway 62. This project will help provide the connectivity needed amongst businesses to better promote tourism and to continue to grow the economy in the area.

In Lucerne Valley, one-time funding of $100,000 will be used to rehabilitate an existing multi-use sports facility that was previously operated by a Homeowner Association (HOA). The refurbished facility will be operated as a neighborhood park in a centralized location to provide accessible recreational opportunities for residents

The National Trails Highway will be receiving $5 million to repair or replace some of the 125 bridges along the route. This is the first step in repairing this highway which serves as a vital resource for tourism in the local economy of the communities along the route.

Within the budget, the Board also approved funding for a comprehensive study to be conducted for the County Museum with respect to reorganizing and developing innovative solutions for its financial challenges. One-time bridge funding of $700,000 was also approved until a more sustainable solution can be developed.

Supervisor Ramos was pleased the Board approved funding for these items. “I’d like to thank my colleagues for their support of these much needed projects in the Third District. By meeting with constituents out in the community, I was able to learn of potential improvement projects the Board could support in order to bolster the local economy,” stated Supervisor Ramos. “These are improvements I strongly advocated for after hearing from residents in the area.”
