Riverside Community College Chancellor Announces Retirement

Riverside, CA – Riverside Community College Chancellor Michael L. Burke announced that he will be retiring on December 31. In a message to faculty and staff, he said he was that the six-month lead time, “will allow the district to conduct a national search and have a new chancellor in place by January 1.  I will, of course, do all I can to make this transition as smooth as possible.”

Burke became chancellor of RCCD on July 21, 2014 after serving as president of Milwaukee Area Technical College. He has more than 35 years of teaching and leadership experience in community colleges in Texas, Idaho and California.

Under Burke’s leadership, the District’s three colleges experienced an increase in student enrollment, obtained significant grants and increased full-time faculty hiring. He also led during the colleges’ accreditations process, where each of the colleges received reaffirmation and helped usher in celebrations of  RCC’s 100th anniversary and Moreno Valley and Norco colleges’ 25th anniversaries.
