Two California Baptist Students Win National Advertising Awards

Riverside, CA – Two students from California Baptist University (CBU) won National American Advertising Awards. Caleb Bol won a National GOLD Student ADDY in the category Animation or Special Effects for the entry titled “Demo Reel”. Jonathan Logerstedt won a National SILVER Student ADDY in the category Magazine Design for the entry titled “Creepy Comics Passion.”

Winning a national Gold or Silver ADDY is a great accomplishment and represents the best in the nation, since 5,662 student entries were submitted nationwide only 27 National Student Gold and 36 National Student Silvers were awarded.

Jonathan Logerstedt won a National SILVER Student ADDY in the category Magazine Design for the entry titled “Creepy Comics Passion.”

The BYU AdLab at Brigham Young University won its second straight student Best of Show for a short film commercial, “One More Giant Leap,” for General Electric.

The CBU entries all started at the Inland Empire Advertising Awards held at the Mission Inn, in Riverside California in March. Overall, California Baptist students took home a total of 14 awards, other schools winning the awards in the local AAF-Inland Empire competition included California State University, San Bernardino with 31 awards, The Art Institute of California – Inland Empire with 29 awards, Mt. San Antonio College won 9 awards, Platt College won 5 awards and Redlands University won 1 award.

In the profession competition, Procter & Gamble earned BBDO New York Best of Show in the American Advertising Awards national competition. In addition to a Gold ADDY Award and Best of Show in Internet commercials, the spot earned a Gold ADDY Award for copywriting. BBDO NY won nine other Gold ADDY Awards for work for Snickers, General Electric, Downtown Records, Bacardi and one silver for Johnson & Johnson.

National ADDY Award Winners were honored Friday, June 8 at the American Advertising Awards ceremony, during ADMERICA 2018, the AAF’s annual national conference. The winners were selected from more than 34,000 entries nationally and won at local and regional levels before advancing to the national competition.
