Yucca Valley: California Welcome Center Seeks Volunteer Ambassadors

Yucca Valley Visitor Center

Yucca Valley, CA — The Desert Regional Tourism Agency, the nonprofit that operates the California Welcome Center in Yucca Valley, is seeking volunteers to serve as ambassadors at the center.

CWC Ambassadors welcome visitors from all over the world to the Joshua Tree Gateways Communities, and provide information to assist visitors with travel plans while they are in the area.

Volunteers are asked to work one or two half-day shifts per week, and be willing to greet visitors in a professional, enthusiastic manner.

The center is open daily, except for Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. Weekday morning shifts run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and afternoon shifts from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Weekend shifts differ slightly.

Yucca Valley’s welcome center, 56711 Twentynine Palms Highway, is one of only 15 in the state. It is stocked with information about the gateway communities and the surrounding region. It also features a gift shop with works by local artists, area souvenirs and See’s candy, and houses the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce.

For more information on becoming a volunteer ambassador, call Executive Director Kathie Ammar at (760) 365-5464.
