2018 Global Access Program Concludes at CSUSB With Video Conferences, Student Presentations
San Bernardino, CA – On Wednesday, June 6, The Inland Empire Center for International Trade Development in collaboration with: California State University, San Bernardino; the Center for Global Management; the CSUSB Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration; the Global Research Institute of International Trade; and the U.S. Small Business Administration, hosted the 2018 Global Access Program (GAP) Conference. The Global Access Program (GAP), now in its 5th year, is designed to accelerate the entry of export-ready businesses to overseas markets through customized global market student research and a day-long conference connecting participants with key resources in the region of focus. This year, GAP focused on Sub-Saharan Africa and four countries in particular: Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa. Conference attendees heard from numerous experts and trade officials from the region and viewed market research projects created by CSUSB students over the last academic quarter.
The keynote address of the conference was delivered by Bran O’Byrne, Chief of International Affairs & Trade Policy and Lead Representative on Trade Negotiations at the U.S. Small Business Administration. Mr. O’Byrne gave his thoughts on the trade prospects in Sub-Saharan Africa, noting that the region is an emerging market for U.S businesses that should be considered.
