State law requires county assessors to annually determine the assessed value of all property in their respective county. The 2018 San Bernardino County Assessment Roll contains 813,482 taxable parcels valued at $221,726,218,130 which is a 7.3% net increase as compared to the 2017 Assessment Roll. Upon his signature, Assessor-Recorder-Clerk Dutton delivered the 2018 Assessment Roll to the San Bernardino County Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector.

“I am pleased to report the signing of the 2018 Assessment Roll showing continued steady growth in property valuations,” said San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-Clerk Bob Dutton. “Several notable attributes of the 2018 Assessment Roll include an increase in Proposition 8 property reassessments, an uptick in commercial construction, residential construction, and new transfers in property ownership.”

Proposition 8 allows for a temporary decrease in the assessed value when the current market value of a property declines to less than the indexed Proposition 13 value established by the assessor. A property under Proposition 8 is annually reviewed and assessed based on market conditions. As market conditions improve, state law requires the assessor to restore assessed values in subsequent years up to the property’s indexed Proposition 13 value.

Property owners who are reassessed will be provided a written notice by mail from the assessor, as required by state law. Individuals wishing to see their personal assessed values may visit the Assessor’s website at www.sbcounty.gov/arc and click on the Online Services, Property Information Management System link. The public can also call the Assessor’s toll-free number at 1-877-885-7654.
