Economist Chris Thornberg to Speak at San Bernardino County Regional Business Summit and State of the County on March 13

Ontario, CAChristopher Thornberg - UCR Chris Thornberg, founder of Beacon Economics, one of the most respected research organizations in the state and Director of the UC Riverside School of Business Center for Economic Forecasting and Development and an Adjunct Professor at the School, will present at the San Bernardino County Regional Business Summit and State of the County. The event will be held March 13 at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario.

Thornberg will discuss what is driving the economy and how the region is best prepared to capitalize on demographic and growth trends. Following Thornberg’s leading-edge commentary will be a panel presentation titled, Developing San Bernardino County’s Economy to Meet the Future, presented by NAIOP Inland Empire. A number of national and regional business leaders will be on the panel  including: Randall Lewis, Lewis Management Company; Darla Longo, CBRE; and Kim Sndyer, Prologis,moderated by Terry Thompson, director of real estate services, San Bernardino County.

The panel will provide insight on how best to position the County for greater real estate investment and development. The panelists will share their insight on how national firms are viewing the County and what they are seeking for investment and development. The panel is set to begin at 3 pm.

Thornberg’s insightful and cutting-edge commentary on the regional economy and the panel will be the lead into the annual Regional Business Summit and State of the County that starts at 4:30 pm.

This year the event, titled Driving the Future of Business, will address how the County is creating a strong business environment in San Bernardino County, including: the importance to business of retaining and attracting a skilled workforce, ways we are encouraging entrepreneurship in the county, and the economic impact of local control of Ontario Airport, among other business drivers.
