City of Eastvale Appoints Carol Jacobs as New City Manager
EASTVALE, CA – At their meeting yesterday evening, the Eastvale City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Carol Jacobs as the new permanent City Manager concluding the five month search. The appointment will become effective on September 10, 2012. Ms. Jacobs will be replacing Robert L. Van Nort who has served as Eastvale’s awesome first City Manager for the past 25 months. He will be dearly missed by staff and Council.
“I am excited to have Carol join us in Eastvale as City Manager,” Mayor Jeff DeGrandpre said. “She has great qualifications and has a good personality for the job. I am grateful that she is joining the Eastvale team.”
Ms. Jacobs currently serves as the City Manager in the City of Stanton, CA. Prior to serving for the last three years as the City Manager, Ms. Jacobs held the position of Administrative Services Director for the City of Stanton bringing her total tenure there to six years. Ms. Jacobs comes to the City of Eastvale with a diverse skill set which includes 23 years of experience in local government and 15 years of financial experience in treasury, accounting, payroll, budget and redevelopment. During her tenure as City Manager of Stanton, Ms. Jacobs was responsible for an operating budget of $15 million and overseeing 10 staff members as well as service contracts for Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) and Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD).
At the City of Eastvale, Ms. Jacobs will be responsible for a budget of approximately $15.3 million and a staff of roughly 8 employees as well as 13 contract employees for building, public works and planning.

Bob has laid a great foundation for our City and Ms. Jacobs will be able to build on that and carry the City through to more growth and continued success.”
Ms. Jacobs has Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University Fullerton. She is a member of the International City Managers Association, California City Manager’s Association, Women Leading Government and the Orange County City Managers Association.
The employment agreement includes an annual salary of $198,000 plus benefits. Jacobs was selected from fifty-four applicants of a state-wide search.
