Exercise and Swimming
Exercise Programs Available at Fontana Aquatics Center
Fontana, California –The Mayor and City Council invite residents to join a fitness class at the Fontana Park Aquatic Center.
Aqua Aerobics is one of the ways to get exercise at the Aquatic Center. The class offers an innovative way to exercise without causing stress to the joints or the back.
According to Megan Wolfe, Coordinator for the Aquatic Center, “Water Aerobics is really good for people that are looking for a low impact exercise. It allows for less stress on the knees or the back,” she said. “We have excellent teachers and do full body exercises including biceps, triceps, calves and legs. Aqua-Aerobics is also a great cardio workout.”
Sessions for Aqua Aerobics are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. We also offer a Saturday class from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Fees are $3 a day or $35 for 12 classes for ages 18-55. Seniors fees, ages 55 +, are $2 a day or $20 for 12 classes. Classes are for ages 18 and up.
Lap swimming and water walking is also offered at the Aquatic Center.
“Lap Swimming and Water Walking is not a class, it’s done on your own time and at your own pace. We have a pace clock, fins, paddles and kick boards available for anyone to use. So come with your own workout, or you can ask us for a workout, we’re always happy to give you one,” said Wolfe. “For Water Walking, we open up the lanes that are shallow enough to walk in, about four to six feet, and you walk at your own pace with the extra resistance from the water.”
Lap Swimming and Water Walking is held three times a day, Monday through Friday. Sessions are from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. $2.50 for adults, $1.50 for seniors. These events are for ages 16 and up.
