Lake Gregory: Junior Fishing Workshop
Kids get a ‘cool’ experience by participating in the Nationally recognized program
Crestline, CA – With warm summer days upon us, families may be looking for an opportunity to escape higher temperatures and enjoy some mountain air. County Regional Parks’ Junior Fishing Workshop at Lake Gregory July 28, 2012, is a cool option for that much needed break.
Boys and girls ages 7 to 13 will learn this favorite outdoor pastime under the instruction of expert teachers. The junior anglers will rotate through five hands-on stations, learning the basics of lake-shore fishing, including the anatomy of a fish; what gear to use and knot-tying; rules and safe practices; cleaning, cooking, and tasting; and tips for casting and catching.
Once the kids have completed the organized, station-by-station training, they can check-out a fishing rod and reel and practice their new skills in the lake’s clear waters. Each participant also gets their very own event t-shirt at the end of the workshop.
The Saturday morning workshop begins at 7:30 a.m. and will conclude at 1 p.m. at Lake Gregory Regional Park, 24171 Lake Drive in Crestline. All equipment and tackle is provided for each child with the $7 registration, which is due by July 20th. The event will be held on the lakeshore near Leisure Shores’ recreation facility and the Rim of the World ball fields.
The program, designed and run by San Bernardino County’s Regional Parks Department with the help of the non-profit organization, Friends of Regional Parks (F.O.R. Parks), was recently recognized by the National Association of County Parks and Recreation Officials for providing an excellent service to residents and visitors of the county.
