Curator of Paleontology Eric Scott will present a lecture, “Fossils in Transition: Darwin’s missing links,” on Sunday, February 13 at 2pm at the San Bernardino CountyMuseum. This lecture is included in paid museum admission.

“The science of paleontology is littered with any number of fossils claimed to be ‘missing links’—fossils representing transitional forms from older, more primitive species to different, younger animals,” said Scott. “Yet many of these fossils are rejected as transitional forms by later scientific studies. What are ‘missing links’? Are there actually any true transitional fossils preserved in the rock record? And if so, how many are there? In honor of Charles Darwin’s 201^st birthday weekend, join me for a discussion about the concept of transitional species and the ‘missing links’ in light of Darwin’s evolutionary theory.”

The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays and holiday Mondays from 9am to 5pm. The live animal gallery Exploration Station is open from 1 to 4pm. Admission is $8 (adult), $6 (military or senior), $5 (student) and $4 (child aged 5 to 12).
