December Events at the Mary Vagle Nature Center
Fontana, California, November 29, 2010. The Mayor and City Council invite the public to attend the many events at the Mary Vagle Nature Center this December.
On Saturday, December 4, the Mary Vagle Nature Center will have a free Discovery Hike at 9:30 a.m. On the Discovery hike, a guide will point out the fascinating features of the landscape, including rock formations, Native American history and local plants and wildlife.
Later, on Saturday, December 4, the nature center will have a free Holiday Open House from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The open house will be a “drop in event with live-animal demonstrations, hands on nature crafts and nature walks for families and kids,” according to Community Services Coordinator Rick Dean.
The next Saturday, December 11, Adventures in Nature will be at 1:00 p.m. This activity is for families with early elementary and young children. It “provides an opportunity for young children to explore and to create,” said Dean. There will be nature walks, hands on crafts and live animal displays to help introduce young children to nature. The event is $3.00 per child
Sunday, December 26, there will be a free EarthCraft Afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Families can make Earth-friendly crafts from recyclable or natural items as part of the center’s earth friendly activities.
