Palm Springs’ New ‘Film Friendly’ Permit Policy Brings Hollywood Film Production to Downtown
“Hidden Away” begins filming next week at popular locations including Azul Restaurant
Palm Springs, CA Azul Restaurant’s popular outdoor patio will be transformed into a Coffee Shop next Wednesday during the morning hours for a scene in Production Media Group’s new film “Hidden Away”, scheduled to film in several locations around Palm Springs from Feb 2 -13. Additional interior scenes will be filmed in the afternoon as well, and Azul has been selected to provide Crew Catering for the 12-day production schedule.
According to the film’s producer, Brian Nolan, “Everyone in Palm Springs has been so helpful and accommodating, and the (City’s) new Film Friendly program has been AMAZINGLY helpful. My crew is looking forward to being there for 2 weeks.”
‘Hidden Away’ is a thriller and stars Emmanuelle Vaugier (CSI: NY, Two and a Half Men, Smallville), Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints, The Dead Zone, Powder, The Young Indian Jones Chronicles,The Young and the Restless), Ivan Sergei (The Mentalist, Army Wives), Thomas Calabro (Glee, Melrose Place, Nip Tuck), and Elisabeth Rohm (Law & Order, Angel, Lifetime’s The Client List). It’s a story of a woman who escapes an abusive husband and starts a new life in Palm Springs, only to be found years later by the husband, who then terrorizes her. A release date has not yet been set.
Azul owner, George Kessinger, is very excited that his establishment will be a part of the film, both in front of the screen and behind the scenes, and believes that “this is just the beginning for ‘Hollywood’ bringing more film production to Palm Springs.”
Filming will take place at Azul on Wednesday, February 6, from 7:00am-5:30pm.
