Promenade Temecula and Southwest Healthcare System Launch New Event to Help Teens Stay Safe
Every year, millions of children and teenagers are treated for injuries in emergency rooms across the country. Many of these injuries could be prevented through basic safety precautions. In an effort to help local teens avoid preventable injuries, Promenade Temecula has partnered with Southwest Healthcare System to hold the Teen Expo on April 20 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“As a central location where families and local teens come to shop, dine and play, Promenade Temecula is creating an interactive event which can help kids to not only enjoy themselves, but also to learn how to prevent accidents,” explains Kym Espinosa, Director of Marketing for Promenade Temecula. “Many teens in Southwest Riverside participate in fun activities such as bike riding, skateboarding, and motocross. While these sports are exciting, it is essential for teens in our community to understand how to stay safe while enjoying them.”
Brian Connors, Director of Marketing of Southwest Healthcare System, also notes that safety among teens is of paramount importance. “The rising number of injuries among teens is alarming,” he says. “We are now banding together as a community to ensure that local families have the information they need to help kids to enjoy themselves without getting hurt.”
To demonstrate these important safety messages, Promenade Temecula and Southwest Healthcare System have created the new interactive and informative Teen Expo event, which aims to engage community members while teaching about safety. The free event will offer a number of activities and demonstrations which the whole family can enjoy, including:
- A BMX stunt rider show, complete with a safely demonstration by professional athletes.
- An air soft shooting range and equipment demonstration. Here guests will enjoy a game of air soft target shooting while learning the importance of using the proper attire such as goggles, masks, and chest plates when participating in the higher impact, Paintball sport.
- A Fox Sports Shoe Van and Equipment show where guests can try on equipment and safety gear and learn to wear it properly.
- A rock climbing wall, which will give guests the thrilling opportunity to test their endurance and strength while learning safety tips on how to belay.
- Ambulance and fire engine tours and safety demonstrations.
In addition to these activities, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a number of giveaway opportunities, including a “text to win” opportunity for an Apple iPad. The new Teen Expo event will take place at Promenade Temecula, in the outdoor plaza across from Edwards Regal Cinemas.
