Mulvaney is positioned to transform Skygone into a market leader of cloud-based enterprise solutions
Redlands, CA—Skygone, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Sean Mulvaney as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Mulvaney brings more than 10 years experience as a leader in the software industry, and specializes in transitioning organizations from start-up to enterprise solution providers.
“I was attracted to the team at Skygone because I could see the transformation of GIS in the cloud. The growing dependence of consumer mobile applications and enterprise software on GIS and geospatial data has poised the market for exponential growth,” said Mulvaney.
Mulvaney’s professional experience both in enterprise software and managed services has allowed him to gain practical experience in all aspects of the product development lifecycle, from engineering to bringing a successful product to market. He has developed an exceptional ability to build strategic executive relationships and sell technology to address key business issues through a complex sales process.
“Sean’s true value combines his deep understanding of cloud computing and related business practices to direct the company’s strategic plan, market outreach endeavors and business development efforts,” said Lindsay McGreevy, Skygone’s director of enterprise solutions. “Coupling his talent with our collective GIS knowledge, experience and expertise will drive Skygone as a leader of GIS in the cloud.”
Before joining Skygone, Mulvaney was a key player in growing 3Tera, recently acquired by CA Technologies, from a fledgling software company to a leader in the cloud computing platform space. The platform, AppLogic™, is one of the solutions that Skygone attributes to their success.
“We’re very excited to have Sean on board,” said Val Dotchkov, Skygone CTO. “His broad knowledge of the enterprise cloud market is a strong match and aligns with our company’s direction. His strong focus on product and services is essential to our company growth and will further emphasize the values Skygone offers to the GIS and cloud markets.”
Mulvaney envisions expanding beyond core GIS markets and moving to the SaaS-ificaiton of traditional GIS-related applications and environments into complex, cloud-based deployments. This includes Integrated-Systems-As-A-Service (ISaaS) to outfit organizations with the resources they need to respond effectively and efficiently to an ever-changing marketplace.
“I’m truly excited for the opportunity to join such a talented team that has been a leader in putting GIS in the cloud,” said Mulvaney. “I am looking forward to expanding their success in the GIS space and enabling them to move into new verticals.”
