Riverside Art Museum Presents Inland Ink
Six contemporary printmakers from the IE featured in new RAM exhibit
Riverside, Ca—The Riverside Art Museum (RAM) proudly presents Inland Ink, running September 28, 2019–January 5, 2020, with a free, open-to-the-public Opening Reception on Thursday, October 3, 6 p.m.–8 p.m. Inland Ink is sponsored in part by the City of Riverside.
Connected by their mastery of putting ink to paper and a shared geography, Denise Kraemer, Pavel Acevedo, Tim Musso, Froukje Schaffsma-Smith, Chick Curtis, and C. Matthew Luther explore a broad variety of traditional, as well as contemporary, printmaking techniques from woodcut to digital prints.
“There is such a wealth of creative talent in Inland Southern California,” says Todd Wingate, Director of Exhibitions and Collections. “The artists in Inland Ink forge six distinct points of view, each uniquely articulated through the medium of ink and paper.”
Contemporary printmaking is flourishing in Inland Southern California, with artists exploring new digital approaches, renewing time-honored techniques, and printing on and with alternative materials and tools. New te
chnologies have been swiftly integrated by some printmakers while other artists have continued to push the boundaries of more traditional methods, whether it be by printing on surfaces other than paper, by working on an unprecedented scale, or simply by working in a way that expands the definitions of print.
“I wholeheartedly congratulate the artists featured in this exhibition for their excellent work,” says Drew Oberjuerge, Executive Director, “and our exhibition team spearheaded by Todd Wingate for such a beautifully curated show. There is so much artistic talent residing in our region. It’s a privilege to showcase this work. Come visit the exhibitions at RAM—they are better than ever before!”
