The Candlelight Pavilion Invites you to Get Cookin’
CLAREMONT, CA— In conjunction with their upcoming show, Church Basement Ladies, the Candlelight Pavilion has decided to create a Cookbook including Candlelight Pavilion recipes and the recipes of their patrons. This ties into the shows premise which revolves around four women who run the church kitchen in a 1960’s Wisconsin Lutheran Church. Along with the cookbook, the Candlelight Pavilion will also be hosting a Dessert Cook-off on Wednesday, April 20th at 7:00pm. The cook-off will feature the desserts of Candlelight Pavilion patrons in which the grand prize winner of the cook-off will receive four complimentary tickets to the Saturday Evening, May 21st performance of Church Basement Ladies. Their dessert will be featured as an item on the dessert menu for the run of the show and they will also be featured in the Candlelight Pavilion Cookbook.
Those interested in the Cook-off will need to RSVP no later than Monday, April 18th in order to participate. Cookbook participants need not participate in the cook-off, simply contact the Candlelight Pavilion and they will send you a recipe form. Recipes must be submitted by Sunday, April 24th in order to be included in the cookbook. If you are interested in participating in these two Candlelight Pavilion firsts, please contact Amy Snyder at (909)626-1254 ext. 110 or Jamie Johnson at (909)626-1254 ext. 115 at the Candlelight Pavilion.
A celebration of the church basement kitchen and the women who work there, Church Basement Ladies, is a new musical comedy featuring four distinct characters and their relationships as they organize the food and solve the problems of a rural Minnesota church about to undergo changes in the 1960’s. From the elderly matriarch of the kitchen to the young bride-to-be learning the proper order of things, we see them handle a record breaking Christmas dinner, the funeral of a dear friend, a Hawaiian Easter Fund Raiser, and, of course, a steaming hot July wedding. They stave off potential disasters, share and debate recipes, instruct the young, and keep the Pastor on due course while thoroughly enjoying, (and tolerating) each other as the true “steel magnolias” of the church. Funny and down to earth, Church Basement Ladies will take you back to a simpler time in the late 1960’s when what meal to prepare and which apron to wear were the biggest decisions to make in the Church kitchen. Don’t miss this quirky show which is sure to have audiences coming back for a second helping!
