U.S. Department of Agriculture and Cal Poly Pomona Sign Internship Agreement
USDA-Cal Poly Pomona Agreement Brings Agency Internships & Expertise to Students
Pomona, CA – The U.S. Department of Agriculture and Cal Poly Pomona have signed an agreement to create a joint Student Enrichment Program that will provide students with internships, information on careers within the USDA Agricultural Marketing Services (AMS) division and improved access to USDA expertise.
Cal Poly Pomona is only the third university to have such a partnership with the agency, which will provide $20,000 annually for paid AMS internships, student housing and transportation to and from duty stations.
As part of the program, the AMS staff will identify internships that provide meaningful assignments and experiences that support the mission and critical operations of AMS. AMS staff will provide technical assistance with agricultural research projects and initiatives.
Partnering with Cal Poly Pomona’s Career Center, AMS will also conduct workshops that help students prepare to compete for federal careers (i.e. the Pathways Programs overview, creating a federal resume, navigating USAJobs and creating USAJobs profiles) and identify career opportunities with USDA.
