Workshop shows entrepreneurs how to legally protect business concepts, processes
Trademarks, patents and copyrights are important in today’s business world
(SAN BERNARDINO, CA) The City of San Bernardino, Economic Development Agency, Office of Business Development is hosting a workshop that will discuss the importance of trade marking business concepts on Thursday, Dec. 2. The seminar titled, “The Benefits of Protecting Your Idea,” will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Office of Business Development, 201-B N. E Street, Suite 200, in San Bernardino.
Lori Tillery, economic development manager, said that in today’s business world, where an e-commerce idea can be worth millions, it is important for business owners to protect their ideas and know their legal rights.
“Business owners invest a significant amount of time and money to develop their image, processes and products,” Tillery said. “It is important that they understand how they can use the law to protect their work.”
The workshop, held in association with the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center, is taught by Tina Loza of Loza & Loza, a law firm that specializes in the protection of intellectual property rights. Loza is also the president of NAWBO-Inland Empire.
The seminar will focus on issues such as copyrights, patents, trademarks and the requirements for intellectual property. The workshop is $15 online or $20 at the door. For more information call 909.890.1242, or visit www.iewbc.org.
