13th Annual War Dog Event and Iron Dog Competition February 16 and 17, 2013
Riverside, CA, March Field Air Museum and the Feed the Dawgs project present the 13th Annual War Dog Event, on Saturday February 16 2013 at 10:00 am, honoring and remembering our canine heroes and their handlers that served in battle. The event is free to the public in the Heritage Courtyard at the March Field Air Museum.
The “Dawgs on Hawgs” Motorcycle ride will arrive at the museum at 9AM. This group of riders is comprised of American Legion and Patriot Guard riders. The Guest speaker for the 10AM program will be Lt. Col. Kevin Prindiville, Provost Marshall, Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. The event also features a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Demonstration following the ceremony that begins at 10 AM. No personal pets are allowed.
On Sunday February 17 the museum will host the second Iron Dog Competition. This competition is for United States Military MWD/IDD Teams. Dogs will compete in an outdoor obstacle course that includes four elements: aggression/attack with suit and sleeve, drug/explosive detection, endurance run and obstacle course. Participants compete for trophies, gear and the ultimate bragging rights of “Top Dawg!”
Outdoor events are free. Regular museum admission is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 5 to 12. March Field Air Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday.
