SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Mike Morrell (R-Rancho Cucamonga) honored Patricia (Pat) Nix as the 2012 Woman of the Year for the 63rd Assembly District. Pat was given a framed certificate at the annual Assembly ceremony at the State Capitol. Pat is a mother of four, grandmother of 10, and great-grandmother of six (soon to be seven) and has been married to her husband Roy for 60 years. As a founding member of the city, Pat has lived in Grand Terrace for 45 years.
“I am honored to recognize Pat as the Woman of the Year for the 63rd District,” said Mike Morrell. “Pat’s commitment to our community has spanned decades while she has worked to better our community. She is truly an example of selfless service.”
Pat was a public servant, serving on the Colton Unified School Board for 16 years, ensuring that education was a priority. Pat has been a part of the Grand Terrace Women’s Club for 45 years, serving in many roles: President, California Federation of Women’s Club’s San Bernardino District Parliamentarian, and President of the California Federation of Women’s Clubs. Pat serves as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church of San Bernardino and also serves as Chairperson of the Bereavement Committee, assisting those at the difficult time of the loss of a loved one.
“I am humbled by this honor from Assemblyman Morrell,” said Pat. “I have been involved in my community because I am passionate about making our community the best place to live. I look forward to continuing my service.”
