Change your life with Toastmasters
Jurupa Valley, CA – Toastmasters is an international organization that helps develop public speaking and leadership skills. A side effect is that it also helps develop self-confidence. It is not a course that you start today, attend for six weeks and finish. It is a work-at-your-own-pace, ongoing program. I know people who have been members of Toastmasters for 25 years, and others who belong to several TM clubs at once. And these are accomplished speakers.
Anyone who speaks in any setting – business, politics, church, even interpersonal communications – can benefit from Toastmasters experience. TM members learn to organize their thoughts and present them in a concise, understandable and convincing manner.
There are no attendance requirements at TM club meetings. We’re all busy people, and will miss a meeting here or there. But the more you attend, the more you get out of it.
The good news is that a Toastmasters club has been formed in Jurupa Valley, thanks to the efforts of Aric Isom, who is working to drum up interest. The first meeting will be held at the Jurupa Valley VFW Post 10267, located at 8607 Mission Ave in Jurupa Valley. The club is being sponsored and mentored by the Prime Time Toastmasters Club based at the Janet Goeske Center in the city of Riverside. The first few meetings will have representatives from other local TM Clubs as well as the Toastmasters District 12, Division C Governor, Esther N. Phahla, DTM
A club must have 20 members to become chartered with Toastmasters International.
“I’m looking forward to this,” says Aric Isom, a former candidate for the first Jurupa Valley City Council. “I hope Toastmasters will help me express myself in a clear concise manner. Much better then I have done in the past.”
John Wellslager, owner of Jimmy Pittman Electrica doesn’t plan to do much public speaking. “I just want to communicate better with my staff and customers,” he says. “I think Toastmasters will help me with that.”
“I’m an attorney and speak in court all the time,” says Donia Roberts. “This will help me present my cases even better.”
Dr. Effie Grear and her son, William Grear, both long time Toastmasters, “Everyone can benefit from Toastmasters training,” says Effie Grear. “Whether you address a large group or a single person, you need to be able to communicate clearly.”
“All are welcomed and encouraged to attend this first meeting,” say Aric Isom. “If not for any other reason then to just see what it’s all about.”
The Jurupa Valley Toastmasters Club will meets every Monday starting on April 9th, 2012. Meetings begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and last one hour. For more information call 951-217-2259.
