City of Ontario Utilizes Smart Phone Application to Improve Residential and Commercial Neighborhoods
Ontario’s Mayor and City Council are committed to investing resources into Ontario’s commercial and residential neighborhoods. The city has unveiled the “myOntario” Smart Phone application that allows residents with iPhones and Android phones to point, click and send photos of graffiti, potholes, maintenance and other street right of way issues directly to the City of Ontario. City Staff and Vendors will now be able to ‘respond like a business’, using better technology, encouraging efficiency and faster response times.
iPhone and Android users may download the “myOntario” application for free from the iPhone App Store and Android Market by searching for the keyword “myOntario”. Once installed, users will simply open the application and follow the prompts to take a picture of the issue and then tap “submit”. Using built-in global positioning system technology, “myOntario” will attach a location to the picture and route information about the problem to the appropriate City department.
“We are committed to improving our neighborhoods and the quality of life for our residents and businesses in our community. The “myOntario” application will give residents a new and more efficient way to tell us about issues they see in our community,” said Mayor Paul S. Leon.
The “myOntario” application allows citizens to report from a smart phone using camera and GPS capabilities. Using this application, a citizen can report the following issues to the City:
- Debris Removal
- Storm Drain Maintenance
- Painting, Striping, Sign Repair
- Street Light Maintenance
- Park Maintenance
- Street Sweeping
- Tree Trimming
- Sidewalk, Curb, Gutter Maintenance
- Weed Abatement
- Sprinkler Maintenance
- Graffiti Removal
Once the issue is reported, Community Services Supervisory staff confirms the issue and assigns it a work order to the appropriate vendor or staff. Real time transmission of requests with GPS addresses and photos provide efficiency for completing and assigning work.
The “myOntario” application was created by App-Order.com, a developer of smart phone applications for government agencies and private companies.
