CORONA: CAT of Corona’s Summer Festival Presents: Pirates of Penzance and Disney’s Camp Rock
Christian Arts and Theater of Corona’s Summer Festival Presents:
Pirates of Penzance and Disney’s Camp Rock
Corona – Christian Arts and Theater (CAT) of Corona is offering the community two fun-filled musicals August 3 – 12th in their 8th Annual Summer Festival. The two shows being presented are Pirates of Penzance and Disney’s Camp Rock.
Pirates of Penzance, featuring adults, is a classic Gilbert and Sullivan musical comedy about a rollicking band of kind-hearted pirates seeking adventure and conquest. Complete with mistaken identities, keystone cops and star-crossed romance, Pirates of Penzance has been a “Must See” theater favorite for nearly 125 years! Heading up a stellar cast, CAT Alumni and now stand-up comic Matt Eden takes on the roll as the Pirate King. Samuel Rodriguez, last seen in the title role as Will Rogers in Will Rogers’ Follies, plays the dutiful yet love struck Frederic. Bringing a fresh, hilarious attitude and direction to the show is Cyndi Monroe, Artistic Director of CAT. Vocal director is Orange County High School of the Arts and Rancho Cucamonga Academy of Music instructor Elizabeth Thomas, and multiple Inland Theatre League Award winning choreographer Hollee Hennebelle Cool returns as choreographer. The entire family will enjoy this spectacularly ridiculous opera, opening Friday, August 3rd at 7:30 and running for 6 performances.
Have you ever wanted to be a rock star? Well, now CAT is giving you the chance to feel like one in Disney’s Camp Rock! Join the action as the CAT kids perform a show taken straight from one of Disney’s coolest television shows! All the music, all the dancing, all the fun! Under the direction of AJ Paulin and vocal director Josh Wenig (CAT’s All Shook Up, Pinnochio), along with choreography by Hollee Hennebelle Cool and Emily Moser, this fun-filled and exciting show will leave you feeling like a superstar! Perfect for the whole family! The show opens on August 4th at 11 AM and runs for 6 performances in repertory with Pirates of Penzance.
All performances are at the beautiful and historic Corona Civic Theater,
815 W 6th Street in Corona. For more information on both of these shows, please visit www.catcorona.org or call the CAT office at (951) 279-2298 for more information. We hope that you join us this summer for a great time in the theater!
